Things in Washington have heated up so much that pundits are now betting on Mike Pence to assume the Presidency any time from now.
Yahoo Politics have written that Pence is just a “heartbeat” away from the Presidency and this in itself is already dividing opinion between the Republican Party and bringing out animosity among Trump supporters who feel that Pence has not done enough to defend Trump during the Russia Collusion investigation.
In fact, many of Trump’s supporters feel that ever since the Trump-Russia scandal broke, Mike Pence totally distanced himself from anything to do with Russia and even has not publicly spoken to defend Trump against the Russia collusion claims.
Pundits in Washington claim that Pence’s silence on the Russia- saga has kept him clean and untainted by the scandal and only elevated him to a position from which he will assume the Presidency should the Russia scandal lead to impeachment of Trump.
Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort and Trump political aide George Papadoulos have been the first among Trump’s team to be indicted regarding the Russia collusion claims. The charges are serious and legal experts say maximum penalties could be imposed.
On Monday, Manafort surrendered to the FBI on charges that included conspiracy against the United States, after Mueller named him and his associate Rick Gates in the first indictment from the probe into the Trump campaign’s suspected Russia ties.
Trump’s administration is already disowning and distancing itself from Manafort as he faces serious charges of Conspiracy against the United States.
Trump’s team now claims Manafort merely oversaw delegate operations and that Trump was not aware of Manafort’s work for other governments, including Russia.
