Trump and Putin “connected very quickly” according to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson who was present at the Private meeting. “There was a very clear positive chemistry between the two,” he added.
The meeting between Trump and Putin has been a long time coming and political experts and pundits were weighing in on the moment. The meeting lasted longer than it was originally intended which could signal that there was so much to discuss.
A body language expert from Moscow State University who studied the Presidents’ body posture and handshakes while watching on Live TV said that Trump was “so relaxed and comfortable” during his meeting Vladmir Putin.
“I mean look at Trump’s meeting with Angela Merkel, or look at what happened when he met the Mexican President, it almost escalated into a war of words except the Mexican President was calm and cool to ignore Trump’s outbursts. Compare all that with when Trump met Putin and you will not need a PhD in Psychology to see that Trump was very happy and relaxed when he shook Putin’s hand,” said Mikhail Orlov.
The meeting was private and closed off to the media but many political experts back in Washington had previously warned Trump against a meeting with Putin especially with the Trump-Russia scandal that has gripped Washington.
In a speech in Poland on the first leg of Trump’s Europe tour, he poured cold water on the allegations against Russian hackers and claimed that it isn’t Russia alone to blame for the election hacking scandals but also other countries were involved. He did not name the countries and did not provide the source of his information.
