Condoleeza Rice was back in the spotlight today after making a speech at the Women’s PGA championship and KPMG Women’s leadership summit in Illinois where she defended Trump and insisted that he stands for American values.
“President Donald Trump may sound different than other Presidents, but he believes in american values and tries to act in the best interest of the United States,” she said, seaking to CNBC.
“While the language may be different and we might talk about needing to deal with policy, I think you are going to see that americans’ interests in values are always linked. It’s early days in this administration, Let’s remember that,” she said.
Condoleeza Rice, who served as Secretary of State under George W. Bush has largely kept a low profile since the end of her tenursehip under Bush and has largely stayed out of the limelight.
While the Trump administration and Trump supporters will welcome Ms Rice’s comments and probably see that as an endorsement of work well done, many Americans will be surprised by what exactly Condoleeza rights means by Trump standing for American values.
His treatment of women, the Access Hollywood bus tapes, his choice of words calling women fat, ugly and pigs, his infamous rude remarks about Megyn Kelly, repealing the Affordable Healthcare Act, the Muslim travel ban, his attacks on Press freedom and all out attacks on the Press and free speech in America is hardly a represntation of American values.
It will not be surprising if Condoleeza Rice is forced to clarify her remarks or make a second speech explaining what exactly she was talking about. So much for American values.
