“I rise today, Mr Speaker, to call for the impeachment of the president of the United States of America for obstruction of justice,”that was how Congressman Al Green (Houston) began his plea to Congress in Washington DC.
Mr. Al Green is one of the few Politicians who are not afraid to speak about impeachment and are willing to fight injustice anywhere they can find it.
Immediately after Al Green called for impeachment, there was a lot of mixed reaction.
He received an outpouring of support and love from members of the public who are tired of all the political scandals and are fed up of the Russian saga.
But Trump supporters immediately started to send him death threats and derogatory messages that have shocked the country. Congressman Al Green says he will not give in to fear and will carry on doing his job.
“When the American people decide they’ve had enough,” he said, “at that point you’ll see a different attitude. My hope is it will start sooner rather than later.
“I will file, if no one else does, an impeachment resolution. It’s filed in the name of the people of the United States of America. I will do it. It’s not my desire to do it, it’s not something that I want to do, but I’m going to also wait to see what the American people are going to do – this is something that will start from the ground up, not the top down,” he told the Guardian News.
It’s about democracy not Democrats; it’s about the republic not Republicans … you can’t allow anyone to be above law.
Let’s take a look at some of the threats and the kind of language used below:
“Hey, Al Green, we got an impeachment for you. It’s going to be yours,” one caller said. “Was actually gonna give you a short trial before we hang your n—– ass.”
“You’re not going to impeach anybody, you f—— n—– … You’ll be hanging from a tree,” another one said. “I didn’t see anybody calling for the impeachment of your n—– Obama when he was born in Kenya. He’s not even an American. So f— you, n—–.”
These are just a few of the threats but many were nasty , cruel, derogatory messages and they have been recorded.
Trump has not spoken out to tell his supporters to refrain from derogatory language and threats of violence..
