Former Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne has officially announced that he will be quitting his job as a Member of Parliament for Tatton constituency in order to focus on his new job as the editor of London’s Evening Standard newspaper.
The announcement comes after it calls for him to explain how he was going to balance Parliamentary duties and editing the Evening Standard and experts pointed out the potential conflict of interests.
“He quickly found out that there was no way he was going to be allowed to juggle both jobs and in the end he was forced to choose and he chose the Evening Standard job. His constituents must be totally shocked. It’s a potential conflict of interests really, ” said a Conservative official who declined to be named.
George Osborne says he will continue to fight for Britain. Meanwhile, David Cameron is expected to be appointed for the top job at NATO very soon.
