UK- Russia “Special Relationship” Fails Before It Even Starts. It’s Practically Over! Boris Johnson Cancels Trip To Moscow.

The United Kingdom has for months been in secret talks with Russia to start a new business and special partnership that would see the two countries working together in business and security matters after a disastrous Brexit that has seen Britain leave the European Union amidst bitter separation.

However, these talks with Russia to start a new phase of partnership and cooperation have gone up in flames. We can report that the relationship between the UK and Russia is practically over and Boris Johnson has cancelled his April 10th trip to Moscow where he was due to hold talks and sign treaties with Russia.

Boris Johnson was going to be the first UK Foreign Secretary to visit Moscow in five years but his trip has been cancelled.

The untimely and unexpected US attack on Syria has played a role in the cancellation of this trip. It is thought Boris Johnson talked to US Secretary Of State Rex Tillerson before cancelling the trip.

The relationship between Russia and the US has soured and that means Boris Johnson can not do business with Russia since the US considers Russia and adversary and Britain is required to be loyal to the United States.

It is thought Boris Johnson informed his Russian hosts of the cancellation of the trip through Twitter where he said ” I will not travel to Moscow Monday 10th April. My priority is talks with my G7 counterparts about Syria and Russia’s support for Assad.”

In Russia, Boris Johnson’s last minute cancellation was described as “adsurd” by Russian Foreign Secretary Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

Maria Zakharova said , ” It seems that our western colleagues live in their own kind of reality in which they first try to single-handedly make collective plans, then they single-handedly try to change them, coming up with absurd reasons.”
